Topic 01

Peptide basics

Research peptides are short chains of amino acids — typically between 2 and 50 residues — synthesised under controlled conditions for use in laboratory research. Unlike small-molecule chemicals, peptides are highly sensitive to temperature, pH and oxidation, which is why provenance, cold-chain and HPLC verification matter so much more.

Purity is the single most important quality metric. Even a 95 % pure peptide contains 5 % of structurally similar contaminants — truncated sequences, deletion isomers, oxidised residues — that can confound in-vitro assays. Apex Peptides supplies only ≥ 99 % HPLC-verified material.

Topic 02

Storage & reconstitution

Lyophilised (dry) storage: Store sealed vials at −20 °C in a frost-free freezer. Properly stored lyophilised peptides retain potency for 24+ months.

Reconstitution: Use sterile bacteriostatic water (preferred for most peptides) or research-grade saline. Inject the solvent slowly against the vial wall — never directly onto the peptide cake. Swirl gently; never shake or vortex.

Reconstituted storage: Store at 2–8 °C and use within 28 days, or aliquot and freeze at −20 °C for up to 6 months. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Reading a Certificate of Analysis

A proper COA documents identity (mass spectrometry confirmation that the synthesised molecule matches the target sequence), purity (HPLC chromatogram with integration showing the main peak as a percentage of total absorbance), peptide content (net peptide weight vs. total vial weight), and appearance, solubility and storage conditions.

Be wary of "in-house" COAs without lab accreditation or batch numbers. Apex Peptides COAs are generated by independent NABL-accredited Indian laboratories and reference a unique batch number printed on the vial.

Research applications

Research peptides appear across published in-vitro and pre-clinical literature in many domains — GH secretagogues in growth-axis signalling studies, BPC-157 and TB-500 in tissue-repair research, mitochondrial peptides (MOTS-c, SS-31, Humanin) in bioenergetics and senescence research, and metabolic compounds (Retatrutide, Cagrilintide) in metabolic pathway investigation.

Regulatory & RUO in India

Research-Use-Only compounds in India are supplied for in-vitro laboratory experimentation. They are not registered pharmaceutical products under CDSCO and are not authorised for human, veterinary or diagnostic use.

Institutional buyers (universities, CROs, biotech labs) procure under their organisation's standard research-reagent workflow. GST is charged at the applicable rate; Apex Peptides issues GST-compliant invoices for reimbursement and accounting purposes.

Lab safety & handling

Treat research peptides as you would any unstudied research chemical. Wear gloves and lab coat; reconstitute and aliquot in a clean bench or BSC where appropriate; avoid skin contact, ingestion and aerosolisation.

If the cold-chain fails in transit (shipment received above 8 °C), photograph the packaging and contact us within 24 hours — we will replace the affected vials at no charge.
